Brian is a founding Director since 2005. He brings a focus on achieving design excellence with every project, and the practice has received a list of awards across a wide range of sectors as a result. He is an experienced project leader with a passion for seeing the rejuvenation of the public realm through quality architecture and urban design.

Brian's happy place is in his garage with his tools making something. Whether it’s a bike jump for his sons or a shelving component for his elaborate basement storage system for sports equipment, you can be sure it’s been modelled in Revit and rigorously considered. He loves tactile craft and is always expanding his knowledge of all the possible ways of exploiting technology and manufacturing techniques to widen his repertoire of design gestures.

From our studios in the Waikato and Bay of Plenty, we offer a comprehensive architectural service, from the macro scale of master planning to the tactile experience of interior spaces.

Each project is an opportunity to bring together people, capability, and resources to deliver thoughtful, beautifully resolved outcomes. Our pragmatic, design-led approach is grounded in a deep understanding of craft, construction, and technology.

Since 2005, we have designed with care for place and environment, embedding sustainability from the earliest stages to create architecture that contributes meaningfully to culture and community.

We are a long-standing team who take joy in creating together. Beyond the professionalism and design excellence we hope we are known for, we are people with personality. We get excited about multisport events, architecture tours, quiz nights and sideline design projects.

We look forward to getting to know you, and to creating something exceptional together.

[1]

Discovery

Every project begins with listening. We take the time to understand your site, your lifestyle, and your aspirations—clarifying goals and constraints through early conversations, workshops, and design dialogue. This phase lays the foundation for a strong working relationship and ensures the vision that emerges is shared, grounded, and personal.

[2]

Concept

With insight from our discovery process, we begin to explore spatial ideas and early architectural form. We sketch, test, and iterate—shaping a concept that reflects your needs while responding to the character of the site. These early studies allow us to establish a clear and compelling direction that brings people, place, and vision into alignment.

[3]

Detail

This is where the architecture takes shape. Together, we evolve the concept into a fully resolved design—refining spatial planning, structure, and materials. Alongside the architectural detailing, we dive into the tactile qualities of the interiors: light, texture, joinery, and finish. The result is a design that feels cohesive, buildable, and considered from every angle.

[4]

Documentation and Procurement

We prepare the detailed drawings and documentation required for council consent and construction. At this stage, we can also help with contractor selection and tendering—drawing from a trusted network of collaborators to ensure the right team is assembled for your project.

[5]

Construction and Advocacy

We remain hands-on throughout construction—advocating for design integrity, resolving details on site, and collaborating closely with the builder to ensure the result is well crafted and aligned with your original vision. We see this final stage not as a handover, but as a continuation of the partnership, right through to a home that is ready to be lived in and loved.
